Second Chances

The Love Rematch by Kay Marie

Rating: 4 out of 5

Spice: 3; one descriptive scene

Sexy Times: 3; this was a slow burn but coupled with the knowledge that they had been together in the past. There was definite chemistry between them.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this very enjoyable romance. Emily and Jake were high school sweethearts but right before they left for college, after planning to be together forever, Jake disappeared from Emily’s life with no word, leaving her heartbroken. Fast forward seven years and Emily is now on a version of The Bachelorette and Jake is one of the producers.

This was my first book by Marie and I liked her writing style quite a bit. Her character development was good and I found the characters believable. This was a dual POV story; I like reading both dual and single POV, but sometimes in a dual POV it is hard to maintain the “secrets” and the big reveal isn’t always that surprising but Marie really pulled it off with this one! The premise was a little extraordinary but it worked and it was an interesting twist. I think the only thing that bothered me was the epilogue and how things were really going to get ironed out, but I don’t want to say much and spoil anything!

I’m looking forward to the second book in the series, which will feature Emily's twin, Sam. I’m already chuckling at what I think might be the premise.

Definitely put this one on your TBR for when it comes out in October!
